South Australian Aboriginal Language Training Workshop

Tauondi Aboriginal College invites South Australian Aboriginal Language Groups to a two-day South Australian Aboriginal Language Training Workshop, to be held at Tauondi Aboriginal College in Port Adelaide on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 June 2025.
This workshop is designed for SA Aboriginal Language Groups interested in making accredited language learning available on Country. It will provide insights into the nationally recognised Aboriginal Language qualifications, the processes involved in using these courses, and how local language speakers can deliver accredited training in their own communities with Tauondi’s support.
Workshop Overview
Over two days, we will cover:
Unpacking the three nationally recognised Aboriginal Language qualifications
- 10890NAT Certificate II in Learning an Australian First Nation’s Language
- 10891NAT Certificate III in Learning an Australian First Nation’s Language
- 10892NAT Certificate IV in Teaching an Australian First Nation’s Language
Understanding how these courses can be delivered on Country
- What is required to use these qualifications
- The role of local language speakers in delivering training
- Vocational education and assessment requirements
Where to begin
- Collecting language resources for course delivery
- Developing training resources
- Identifying training and assessment strategies
By the end of the workshop, participating language groups will have a clearer pathway to delivering community-based language education on Country. Tauondi will work with each group to identify where and how we can support them in this process.

- Aboriginal Language Groups who want to teach their language on Country
- Community members involved in language revitalisation, teaching, or curriculum development
- Those wanting to learn more about accredited language training and qualifications
