Child safety is everyone’s responsibility. We help you or your people get it right.

Organisations that provide services to children and young people play an important role in keeping them safe. Tauondi’s Safe Environments training helps your staff and volunteers recognise when a child or young person may be at risk of harm, report their concerns and respond with confidence. It also builds their understanding of mandatory notification obligations.

As an Aboriginal-owned college, we deliver every session through our own facilitators in a culturally safe learning environment. People feel respected and comfortable to ask questions and talk openly, which matters when the topic is the safety of children.

What we offer

RRHAN-EC: mandatory notification training for education and care

If your people work in a school, early childhood service or Out of School Hours Care (OSHC), they will be required to complete RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care). Many people know it by its former name, RAN-EC. The course covers child protection in education settings.

Tauondi delivers the in-person RRHAN-EC training, which runs in two parts:

1. Fundamentals (2 hours, online). Complete this first through Plink.
2. Masterclass (4 hours, with Tauondi). Work through real scenarios with one of our facilitators.

Tauondi can also deliver Fundamentals and Masterclass together. For virtual Masterclass sessions, contact us to find a session time that suits you.

Certificates are issued through Plink and by email, and they stay accessible on Plink at any time.

Safe Environments: Through Their Eyes

The Department of Human Services developed this training for organisations that provide services to families, children and young people. It helps your staff and volunteers recognise, report and respond to children or young people who may be at risk of harm, and it builds your organisation’s capability to provide a safe environment.

We recommend that your staff and volunteers working with families, children and young people attend, so they understand their mandatory notification obligations. This is in line with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

How to book

Booking as an individual

1. Create an account on Plink
2. Complete the 2-hour Fundamentals session online
3. Book the 4-hour Masterclass through Plink, pay for class by contacting Tauondi on 08 8240 2300
4. Attend the Masterclass (We will be in touch to share details before attendance date)
5. Receive your certificate via Plink (Certificate will be always accessible via Plink).

Booking for a group or require training at your workplace

Not sure which course suits your team? Need to train a whole team?

We can deliver Safe Environments: Through Their Eyes at your site and the RRHAN-EC Masterclass onsite or virtually for private groups, so your people learn together, in your setting, with your own scenarios in mind. Our Learner and Learning Support Service is available on request, so every participant can take part with confidence.

Starting out in early childhood?

Child safety training is also a requirement for some certificate courses.

If you’re curious about a career working with children and families, ask us about our Aboriginal Early Childhood Education and Care Taster Program. It’s an ongoing 7-day program, delivered at locations across metropolitan Adelaide. No experience is needed, and one day of the program covers RRHAN training.
