Artwork for 50th Anniversary

Expressions are sought from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists to design and paint a large canvas (size to be confirmed with successful Artist) to celebrate the Tauondi Aboriginal Colleges’ 50th anniversary.

The Artist/Artist team will be selected based upon experience, work examples, an ability to collaborate with stakeholders, the quality of their application and if shortlisted, their concept design.

The key intention of the project is to provide a visual demonstration of the values of Tauondi and the values that make Tauondi a place for learning, cultural safety and connection.

Tauondi Aboriginal College is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In celebration of reaching 50 years, we are seeking to commission an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artist to create a painting that represents the values of Tauondi Aboriginal College.

The artwork will:

  • Be high-quality, contemporary, original work.
  • Not licensed or otherwise encumbered in any way that may be inconsistent with terms and conditions.
  • Promote local culture, creativity, pride and identity.
  • Create a strong sense of place and belonging.
  • Be sensitive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
  • Be an appropriate format and style for conversion into a digital format.
  • Represent the values of Tauondi Aboriginal College.

Budget

  • The budget for the acquisition of the artwork is $5,000 for design, materials, equipment and implementation.

Other considerations

  • Participating Artists must be aged 18 years or older at the time that the Entry Form is submitted
  • Where a participating artist is under the age of 18, the artist’s adult parent/guardian must complete the Entry Form by stating their own name on behalf of the name of the artist to indicate their agreement with these terms and conditions on behalf of the artist
  • The winning Artist will enter into the Agreement to grants Tauondi Aboriginal Corporation a permanent, royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable, ongoing, exclusive licence (including a right of sub-licence) to use, reproduce, communicate, broadcast, publish, distribute, adapt, and modify the winning artwork in all medial of expression now known or later developed and, in all languages, for any purpose specified in the terms and conditions.
  • Up to three (3) artists will be shortlisted to develop a concept design, and paid a fee of $500.
  • The successful Artist / Artist team will be selected from their concept design.
  • The successful applicant must be available to meet with representatives from Tauondi Aboriginal College and relevant stakeholders to discuss and refine their concept design.
  • All work must be completed by Friday 2 June 2023.

  • Prepare 3-5 artwork examples (these can be of your previous works)
